OK, so you want to know a little bit more about me ?

I am 36 years old, born on 8th January 1969 in Dingwall, a small town in the Highlands of Scotland. I've always lived in Ross-shire, and I'm very proud to say I'm a Highlander. I'm married to Julie, and we live in Alness with my step-son Paul (aged 8), and the most recent addition to the clan, Freya (born 01/03/05).

Music has always been a major part of family life in the Burgess household. My late father, Pipe-Major John D. Burgess M.B.E., was a professional piper from the age of fifteen. He died sadly on 29/06/05, aged just 71 - a great loss, not just to our close relatives but also the extended group that makes up our piping family.

My mother, Sheila, has been well known in the North as a singer and accordionist for many years. I'm the eldest of two and my sister, Margaret, is also a singer and plays the violin. So sometimes, it's been a noisy house to live in !!?

1994 saw several friends and I form the modestly-named Tempest. Basically we formed a support band for bands playing at one of the local venues. Our gigs included two particularly memorable nights for me, one supporting Magnum [one of my favourite bands of all time] and the other, a New Years Eve gig supporting a local ceilidh band with a crowd of 400 partygoers.

In 1996, I joined a Dingwall-based band called EXIT as lead singer. During the following 18 months, we played gigs all over the Highlands, from Elgin in the East to Stornoway in the West, and all points in between - some truly great gigs. After an amicable split from Exit, I returned to work on my own material and concentrate on music production.

Since then, I've worked on several projects, as well as my own material. I produced Reach Out Your Hands for Jimmy Gunn and Providence [including a co-write on the title track]. The completion of this project led to the creation of Lonevine Productions. I've also played session keyboards and produced demo tracks for several local singers and bands. Some of these other projects are detailed elsewhere on the site, so check it out......

I had produced demo tracks for for singer/songwriter Grant MacAskill, this brought me in contact with Calum macDonald of Runrig. In 11/04/01, I auditioned for the position as tour keyboard player. Unfortunately my musical background was probably a little too much rock and pop, and not enough traditional in influence. Calum has, however, kept in touch and I continue to offer support to him in his studio.

Other than music, my interests include movies, martial arts, the Internet, and Sc-Fi TV [Stargate SG-1 in particular]. I'm also one of the many long-suffering supporters of Aberdeen Football Club.

Employment-wise, I work for BT as a Web Developer on the BT Business Broadband campaign.
